Disputes over Air Pollution & Odours

The following disputes over pollutants may occur:

• Chemical smells from factories

If you are concerned about your neighbour's pollution it is best to speak to the person/s causing the problem. If this fails you may report the pollution to your Local Council or the Department of Environment & Climate Change. Industrial Premises

If your neighbour causes large-scale industrial pollution, they may be scheduled under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act. Complaints may be lodged with the Department of Environment & Climate Change, and fines and other penalties may be imposed.
